A $2.5 million bridge that can handle 20 tons is being built over the Keahua Stream at the Keahua Arboretum. Currently, a spillway that sometimes floods is used by vehicles to cross the stream. The bridge will be a 115-foot-long steel truss, single span vehicle bridge (painted green) with an adjacent pedestrian path.
The peaceful Keahua Arboretum is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike and the bridge will make for a safer passage to the arboretum parking lot on the far side. However there is some concern from locals the heavy-duty bridge is being built for use by loggers to transport timber from the area.
