Don’t let the shack and picnic tables fool you, Chicken in a Barrel in Kapaa is definitely worth a stop. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are relatively inexpensive for Kauai. Get the chicken for a sure thing, but the baby back ribs are a great choice too. There’s no inside seating (just covered picnic tables) but that’s OK, you’re in Hawaii! It’s a nice place to go after bicycling the Kapaa bike path (there’s a bicycle rental place next door). Kauai is not known for BBQ, but that might be changing as more people discover Chicken in a Barrel. (There’s also a Chicken in a Barrel in Hanalei.)
