Firefighters rescued an injured 53-year-old Utah hiker near Hoopii Falls in Kapaa on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, reports the County of Kauai.
Personnel with the Kaiākea fire station, Rescue 3, Air 1, and American Medical Response responded to the incident.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, first responders received a call of an injured hiker who sustained leg injuries after jumping off a rope swing near Hoopii Falls.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 and personnel with the Kaiākea fire station arrived on scene and found the injured female hiker.
The hiker was later loaded into the stokes litter and wheel and moved to the center of the steam, where she was extracted via AIR 1 and transported to a landing zone. AMR then treated the hiker while on transport to Wilcox Medical Center ER.
