The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) has released the visitor statistics for Kauai for June 2021. The statistics show that numbers are approaching pre-pandemic 2019 levels.

There were 104,329 visitors to Kauai in June 2021, compared to 134,790 visitors in June 2019, reports HTA. (There were only 1,053 visitors to Kauai in June 2020.)

Visitor spending was $172.3 million in June 2021, a 12.1 percent decline from $196.1 million in June 2019.

The average daily count showed that there were 30,194 visitors per day on Kauai in June 2021, compared to 32,986 visitors per day in June 2019.

The average length of stay has increased slightly, from 7.34 days in June 2019 to 8.68 days in June 2021.

Per person per day spending is down slightly, from $198 in June 2019 to $190 in June 2021. However, the per person per trip spending has increased, from $1,454 in June 2019 to $1,652 in June 2021.

Despite some long lines seen at some restaurants on Kauai in recent months, the statistics (at least for June 2021) do not indicate that Kauai is experiencing more tourists than before the pandemic, as some have speculated. However, visitors, on average, are staying about a day longer and spending about $200 more per trip.
