Poipu Beach 2017

One of the most popular beaches on Kauai is Poipu Beach, and for good reason. Located on the island’s sunny, southern shore, the beach offers a range of beach activities for people of all ages. It’s the perfect beach for the entire family, with perfect year-round sunshine, snorkeling, swimming, surfing and boogie-boarding, and the occasional visits by Hawaiian Monk Seals. There’s a lifeguard station manned seven-days-a-week, as well as showers, picnic tables and restrooms. Nearby are some of Kauai’s best resorts and dining options.

Above: Nukumoi Point is a rocky islet that separates Poipu Beach into two sections. At low tide there is often a sandbar from the beach to the outlying rocks. Be careful on the rocks and near the sandbar as powerful rip currents are sometimes present.

Shallow, calm waters can usually be found near the lifeguard station to the left of Nukumoi Point. This area is perfect for children.

Snorkeling is a favorite activity at Poipu Beach.

Poipu Beach is the south shore’s busiest beach, but there’s enough room for everyone.
