Social Media Posts Show Flood Impacts in Kauai

Photos and videos uploaded to social media sites show the extent of flood damage and aftermath in Kauai. Though Kauai’s North Shore took the brunt of the hit, the flooding also impacted communities farther south including Kilauea, Anahola, Kapaa and Lawai among some of the places.

We went from having the most unreal vacation to the most terrifying. Unfortunately we were caught between two flash floods and were rushed to higher ground. All six of us crammed into our suburban and hoped that the river would not wash us into the ocean. We are so thankful especially to Mana, our state park officer who guided us through the past 36 hours and who helped us hike out this morning to find food and shelter. We were able to hike back in and grab the rest of our gear and are hoping to be air lifted out tomorrow!
