Affordable apartments intended for Kauai’s North Shore service workers recently opened in Princeville. Kolopua, located near the Princeville Shopping Center, adds 44 much-needed rental units to the area, including 16 one-bedroom, 16 two-bedroom and 12 three-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 676 to 1,047 square feet and ranging in price from $780 to $1,335 per month. Affordable housing is a huge problem in Kauai and is only expected to get worse as the island’s population growth continues to outpace the housing and rental market.
