Port Allen Kauai is a small harbor located on Kauai’s southern coast in Hanapepe Bay. It is the main launching point for the majority of the island’s Na Pali Coast boat tours, whale watching trips and deep sea fishing charters.
The harbor has two 600-foot long berths on opposite sides of a pier and a small boat harbor with berthing for 34 boats. The 25-35-foot deep harbor is protected by a 1,200-foot breakwater. The port has a two-lane, 30-foot wide launch ramp as well as public restrooms. Port Allen is Kauai’s second-largest harbor after Nawiliwili Harbor.
The Port Allen area has several restaurants, a brewery and tourist shops including Kauai Chocolate and the Red Dirt Shirt factory outlet. There is a small shopping center on the highway at the entrance to Port Allen than includes a McDonald’s restaurant, Big Save Market, Longs Drugs and U.S. Post Office. A Subway restaurant is nearby the center.
Another shopping center, the Port Allen Marine Center, is closer to the port and contains the check-in offices for the Na Pali Coast tour operators (including Capt Andy’s, Kauai Sea Tours, Blue Dolphin Charters and Holo Holo Charters), as well as a restaurant (the Port Allen Sunset Grill & Bar), the Kauai Chocolate Company and several tourist-related shops such as Happy Honu Gifts. Restrooms are located in the central hallway of the center.
Port Allen is located in the town of Eleele and near the town of Hanapepe. It is within a relatively short drive from Poipu. Nearby is the Kauai Coffee Company.
