The Happy Talk Lounge is one of our favorite places to hang out on Kauai!
The Happy Talk Lounge Restaurant & Bar at Hanalei Bay Resort (HBR) in Princeville, Kauai is back in business and better than ever, with the best views on the entire North Shore, locally-sourced food made from scratch, an awesome cocktail menu, sixteen beers on tap and daily live music. The bar counter is first come, first served but reservations are recommended for tables as this place is happening!
The Happy Talk Lounge is a centerpiece of the Hanalei Bay Resort. The restaurant has commanding and magnificent views of Hanalei Bay. Located near the open-air check in lobby at HBR, there is a nice sitting area outside of the restaurant. Just below the restaurant is a koi pond and waterfall along with other beautiful tropical landscaping.
Inside the Happy Talk Lounge is a u-shaped bar that is perfect for relaxing and socializing. Raised tables around the perimeter are the spot for family gatherings and intimate dinners. And floor tables near the stage get you close to the live music (our favorite is Falling Down Romance). Above, big screen TVs show the big games as well as surf league action and more. It is the spot of many celebrations, elegant dinner conversations and the occasional private party.
The food is no mere afterthought at the Happy Talk Lounge. Our favorites are the excellent farm-fresh house salad, the baked queso (with chips) the house burger, the fish tacos and the fish and chips. We could go on.
Unfortunately, next door, the resurrection of the Bali Hai Restaurant remains in doubt. The space is only partially finished for the restaurant, and has remained that way for several years. One of the hangups, it is said, is the limited parking situation at Hanalei Bay Resort. Nevertheless, the Happy Talk Lounge more than fills that void with the same excellent view, good food and good times.
