Beach House Restaurant Kauai Review

Beach House Restaurant Kauai Review

My husband and I visited Kauai during his 37th birthday. We knew we wanted to eat somewhere special for his birthday dinner, so I went to work researching restaurants. I knew wherever we went had to have a good steak and an even better view.

Beach House Restaurant was highly recommended on Facebook groups I followed and had glowing reviews online. The menu looked delicious, and it was right on the water. The Beach House Restaurant was certainly the perfect spot to spend a birthday.

The Beach House is one of the nicer places to eat on Kauai for fine dining, but still doesn’t have a strict dress code. You can dress casually if you want, but you can also dress up without looking out of place. I wore a flowy pink romper with strappy sandals and put on just a touch of makeup. My husband wore a short-sleeved button-up with khaki shorts and boat shoes.

It was fun to get a little dressed up since most of our time spent in Hawaii was spent in swimsuits. We recommend making reservations for Beach House since it’s always busy. If you want a prime dinner or sunset time, I’d recommend making a reservation months in advance.

When you reach the “Welcome to Poipu” sign at the main roundabout in town, head south on Lawai Rd. You’ll come upon Beach House Restaurant just before you hit Lawa’i Beach. There is no parking lot, so you have two options: you can find a parking spot along the street and walk or pay for valet.

We were able to find street parking but I believe the valet was only about $3. The restaurant is located on the South Shore in the Poipu area. It’s a short drive from Poipu Beach, shops, and other restaurants and bars in Poipu.

As we walked in the door, we were greeted by staff who confirmed our reservation and invited us to wait in the lobby. The lobby had some unique and elegant furniture pieces. It was certainly the fanciest restaurant we visited while on the island. As we were led to our table, we took in the immaculate dining room.

Whether you take a booth or a table, there is truly not a bad seat in the restaurant. The entire restaurant is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows that display a view of the ocean. We ended up seated at a table near the window. The day we visited Beach House Restaurant, there was pleasant weather, so the restaurant had the large windows turned open to invite the ocean breeze in.

Since we saw people out on the lawn, we took our seats and made a mental note to have our post-dinner cocktails in that area.

Beachhouse Dinner

After ordering champagne, we were given some homemade focaccia with oil. We gazed out onto the water and felt deep gratitude that life had brought us to this beautiful island paradise for my husband’s birthday. How lucky we felt.

We ordered the Szechwan stir-fry green beans with mac nuts as an appetizer. Everything in Kauai tastes better with macadamia nuts. The sauce was delicious, and we viewed the rest of the menu as we enjoyed them.

All of the main courses look delicious but in the end, we both decided on the filet mignon. It was topped with blue cheese and bacon butter and served with mashed potatoes and rainbow chard. Everything was perfect. The server was very attentive and ensured that our experience at the Beach House Restaurant was just as memorable as the food.

The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the flavors of every dish came together impeccably. We enjoyed our meals and soaked up the view, saving room for dessert. My husband is a big sweets guy, so we doubled up on dessert.

We ordered the chocolate tart and the lemon semolina cake. My husband became obsessed with lilikoi during our time in Hawaii, so we loved the house-made lilikoi whipped crème the cake was topped with. The meal ran us about $250 in total, but we did indulge quite a bit. It can be done on a lower budget too.

I grabbed an espresso martini and our check and we headed out to the lawn. The well-manicured, sumptuous lawn was adorned with lawn chairs and high-top tables. You can breathe in the salty ocean air and watch the surfers as you sip on the cocktails.

The sun went down on the water, and we toasted to a tasty meal, a beautiful view, and a beautiful life. Beach House Restaurant is the perfect place for a special occasion, but don’t count it out for casual drinks as well. There is plenty of great food, drinks, and ambiance to enjoy at the Beach House Restaurant.
